Intercity offers Ethernet and Leased Line circuits starting from 2Mb/s suitable for Internet access. MPLS or point to point connectivity. We provide Ethernet from all the major UK network operators giving us one of the largest footprints for coverage within the UK.

Intercity Ethernet for Business

Intercity offer a vast range of Ethernet and high availability services such as leased lines. All of these services include the following.

• Speed guarantee, you receive the speeds you pay for

• Resilience options such as ADSL failover, carrier diversity and route diversity

Ethernet Fibre

The Ethernet Fibre service is a dedicated connection from a business premises straight to the internet. The service is uncontended meaning you do not share with other network users and you are guaranteed the bandwidth you purchase whether it is 2mb or 200mb.
The service is delivered using an access bearer, this bearer dictates the maximum speed the line can achieve.  There are three bearer options available…

• 10mb
• 100mb
• 1gb

Once a bearer is installed you can choose how much of the bearer’s maximum capacity you require and only pay for the used bandwidth. A very common option is to take a 100mb bearer with 10mb of bandwidth. This allows for future expansion as the bearer has plenty of spare capacity without having to install a new circuit.

Ethernet First Mile (EFM)

The Ethernet First Mile (EFM) service is a dedicated connection from a business premises straight to the internet. The service is delivered using a mix of copper and fibre cables and can deliver speeds of up to 20mb up and down.
The service is delivered to your premises using twisted copper cable, this technique is extremely reliable and also low cost minimising setup and on-going rentals compared to an Ethernet Fibre delivered service. There are two types of Ethernet First Mile products.

• Dual Pair
• Quad Pair

The dual pair service can deliver up to 10mb whilst the quad pair product can deliver up to 20mb. The service is subject to distance from your local exchange and a site survey will be completed as a part of an order to obtain a speed guarantee.

2mb Leased Line (PPC)

2mb leased lines are a traditional service that delivers a guaranteed speed of 2mb to a business premises. The service should be used when either Ethernet Fibre or Ethernet First Mile are unavailable. 2mb PPC circuits are generally more expensive than more modern Ethernet technologies.
