What is Ethernet Fibre?

Our Ethernet Fibre service is delivered using an access bearer, this bearer dictates the maximum speed the line can achieve. There are three bearer options available:

• 10Mb
• 100Mb
• 1Gb

Once a bearer is installed you can choose how much of the bearer’s maximum capacity you require and only pay for what you need. A very common option from our customers is to take a 100mb bearer with 10mb of bandwidth. This allows for future expansion as the bearer has plenty of spare capacity for upgrading without having to install a new circuit.

Our Ethernet Fibre solution provides real value for money as it offers more bandwidth and lower costs than traditional Ethernet services. We fully manage and maintain all your Ethernet services from EFM, Ethernet Fibre or a Leased Line, meaning you can free up your staff up to concentrate on business critical activities.

How does Ethernet Fibre work?

Leased Lines

Our traditional 2Mb Leased Lines service delivers a guaranteed speed of 2Mb to a business premises. Our Leased Line service should be used when either Ethernet Fibre or Ethernet First Mile are unavailable as it has wider geographic coverage. 2Mb PPC Leased Line circuits are generally more expensive than more modern Ethernet technologies. However the speed and reliability of Intercity’s Leased Lines make them ideal for any business needing a fast, virtually failsafe connection.
